Meder

Hailed by critics as "a passionate and committed violinist" (Bachtrack), Hugo Meder embodies the new generation of French violinists.

Born into a family of Alsatian winegrowers and cabinetmakers, Hugo discovered the violin in a music school near his village. He quickly joined the Strasbourg Conservatory in the class of Ana Reverdito-Haas, who revealed his great musicality and led him to join the CNSMDP (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris) in 2016 in the class of Alexis Galpérine, Ana-Haas and Éric Crambes. He also received advice from great soloists such as Marina Chiche, Amaury Coetaux, Pierre Colombet and Olivier Charlier. After obtaining his master's degree, he was admitted to the Performer's Diploma (post-master's degree) and is currently working on a project based on Bartók and his music for violin. During the year 2020, he was also admitted to the Young Talents programme of the Académie Jaroussky, giving him the opportunity to work with artists such as Geneviève Laurenceau, Christian Pierre La Marca, Philippe Jaroussky and David Kadouch.

At the same time, he began a career as a soloist and performed regularly in venues such as the Auditorium de la Seine Musicale in Paris, the Opéra de Lyon, the Kammermusiksaal in Stuttgart and the Margraves Opera in Bayreuth. He has collaborated with conductors Mathieu Herzog, Chloé Dufresne and Jeanne Cousin as well as with several ensembles including the Orchestre Appassionato, the Orchestre interUniversitaire de Paris and the Ensemble Orchestral Clair de Lune.

Winner of numerous international competitions (among others, the First Prize of the FNAPEC, the Honorary Prize of the Bellan Competition, the First Prize of the Nouvelles Étoiles Competition in Paris), you can hear about him in La lettre du Musicien and listen to him on France Musique.

Since his early days, Hugo has felt a great affinity with chamber music. He performs in various formations and with renowned musicians such as Marc Coppey, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Pierre Fouchenneret, Geneviève Laurenceau, Adrien Boisseau, Pauline Haas and the Yako Quartet. He is regularly invited to numerous festivals such as the Festival de La Roque d'Anthéron, the Printemps des Arts de Monaco, the Festival des Arcs, Musique de Chambre à Giverny, or the Festival Européen Jeunes Talents in Paris.

Hugo is supported by the Fondation Safran and is a laureate of the Fondation Royaumont. He plays a Gand et Bernardel violin from 1889 and a Pierre Nehr bow from 2019.

Depuis ses débuts, Hugo ressent une grande affinité avec la musique de chambre. En 2016, il fonde avec le pianiste Virgile Roche et la violoncelliste Mélisande Pontin (aujourd’hui remplacée par Bogeun Park) le trio Pantoum. Débutant sous la direction d’Emmanuelle Bertrand, Michaël Hentz puis Claire Désert et Ami Flammer, ils rentrent en 2018 dans la prestigieuse classe du Trio Wanderer au Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris, avant d’intégrer en 2021 le master de musique de chambre du CNSMDP dans la classe de François Salque et de Louis Rodde. Ils reçoivent également des conseils de musicien•ne•s de renommée internationale tels que Marc Coppey, Emmanuel Strosser, Hatto Beyerle, Patrick Jüdt, ainsi que des quatuors Ébène, Modigliani et Talich. Le trio est récompensé d’un deuxième prix au concours international de musique de chambre d’Illzach, et devient en 2021 un ensemble permanent de l’ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy) et de l’association ProQuartet. Ils sont alors amenés à se produire dans des salles prestigieuses comme la Royal Northern College of Music Concert Hall à Manchester (Royaume-Uni), la Freemasons Hall à Trondheim (Norvège), ou la salle Pierre Boulez de la Philharmonie de Paris.

Hugo forme aussi un duo avec le pianiste Virgile Roche, avec qui il remporte le deuxième prix du Concours International de Musique de Chambre de Lyon.

Hugo est soutenu par la Fondation Safran et est lauréat de la Fondation Royaumont. Il joue un violon Gand et Bernardel de 1889 et un archet Pierre Nehr de 2019.

Distinguished by his curiosity and eclecticism, Bogeun is very sensitive to early music, exploring the sound of period instruments and championing a repertoire ranging from Gabrielli to Beethoven. He works with masters such as Christophe Coin, Bruno Cocset, Patrick Cohën-Akenine and Kenneth Weiss.
Bogeun plays the 1865 'Ex-Navarra' cello by Auguste-Sébastien-Philippe Bernardel on loan from the Zilber-Vatelot-Rampal Foundation. He is a beneficiary of the Lions Club grant, the Société Générale musical patronage and is supported by the ADAMI and the Fondation Safran pour la Musique.

Bogeun Park est un violoncelliste franco-coréen né en 1998. Lauréat des concours VioloncellenSeine et du Concours de Cordes d’Epernay, il incarne la nouvelle génération du violoncelle français. Bogeun a été formé au Conservatoire de Reims avec Marc-Didier Thirault puis au CNSM de Paris avec Jérôme Pernoo et Cyrille Lacrouts, et a également reçu les conseils de Gary Hoffman, Julius Berger, Romain Garioud, Xavier Gagnepain et François Salque.
Durant la saison 2021-2022, il a été membre de la Promotion Tchaikovsky à l’Académie Musicale Philippe Jaroussky.

Born in 1998, Virgile Roche began his musical studies at the Conservatoire de Clermont-Ferrand. After two years at the Conservatoire de Saint-Maur-des-Fossés under the direction of Cécile Hugonnard-Roche, he was admitted to the Conservatoire Supérieur de Paris (CNSMDP) at the age of 17, where he studied piano from September 2016 to June 2022 in the classes of Emmanuel Strosser in the bachelor's degree programme, and Marie-Josèphe Jude and Jonas Vitaud in the master's programme. He also obtained his prizes in chamber music (Claire Désert and François Salque's classes), accompaniment (Reiko Hozu's class), harmony, counterpoint, and was admitted in 2021 in Marc-André Dalbavie's orchestration class. Thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, he also studied in Geneva with Nelson Goerner.
From September 2022, he will be Artist in Residence at the Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth (Belgium), in the class of Frank Braley and Avedis Kouyoumdjian.

He has had the opportunity to work with renowned pianists and pedagogues such as Bernard d'Ascoli, Michel Dalberto, Bertrand Chamayou, Jean-François Heisser, François Dumont, Florent Boffard, Denis Pascal or Pascal Devoyon, but also with Hatto Beyerle, Johannes Meissl, Patrick Jüdt, Günter Pichler, Irvine Arditti, Antonio Meneses, Xavier Gagnepain, members of the Talich, Ebony, Modigliani and Diotima quartets, the Wanderer and Karénine trios... Distinguished in several international competitions (2nd prize and three special prizes at the Piano Campus International Competition in 2020, 2nd prize at the Lyon International Chamber Music Competition in 2021 in a duo with the violinist Hugo Meder...), he is also a laureate of the Royaumont Foundation in 2018 and 2019. In October 2020, he won the prestigious Safran Foundation for Music Prize.

Particularly sensitive to modern and contemporary repertoires, he passionately defends works by composers as varied as Ligeti, Berio, Crumb, Dutilleux, Messiaen, Carter, Takemitsu, Sciarrino, Scelsi, Varèse, Murail, Henze but also Hindemith, Berg, Stravinsky, Bartók and Schoenberg. In June 2022, he obtained his prize for 20th and 21st century writing in the class of composer Thomas Lacôte at the CNSMDP.
